Australian winemakers are known for producing great Shiraz, Cabernet and Merlot wines, but lately many have started to experiment with alternative varieties – with great results. These emerging varietals are so-called as they are typical wines enjoyed in their home countries as Shiraz is here, but are showing up more and more on Aussie wine lists across the country.

Wine like food tells a story. Sometimes that story is set in a fine dining restaurant and sometimes it takes place late in the evening when your day has been long and a salad is just not going to cut it. Wine has a long and storied history, a high-brow tradition. However, at the end of the day, it is fermented grape juice so who’s to say that the best pairing for wine can’t be junk food?
